Coastal Welding Supply recognized as top independent distributor with Richard W. Couch, Jr. award

HANOVER, N.H.—Sept. 30, 2013—Hypertherm, a U.S. based manufacturer of plasma, laser and waterjet cutting systems, today announced the recipient of the 2013 Richard W. Couch, Jr. Award. The award, named after Hypertherm Chairman and CEO Dick Couch, recognizes the top independent distributor in Hypertherm’s North American region.

This year’s winner is Coastal Welding Supply, a 50-year-old company committed to producing the highest quality industrial gases and precision fabrication blends. The company also maintains one of the largest inventories of welding and specialty gases, welding equipment, welding consumables, welding supplies, safety supplies and industrial tools along the Texas Gulf Coast.

The company was selected through a ballot process involving Hypertherm’s management team, North American sales team, and customer and technical service teams. To be considered, distributors need to have independent status, employ a well trained and knowledgeable sales staff, and support all of Hypertherm’s core product lines.

The award includes a $500 donation to a nonprofit organization of the winner’s choice. Coastal Welding selected the Southeast Texas Food Bank, an agency working to eliminate hunger. The agency working with its partners provides approximately 200,000 meals to people in need each month.

This year’s award was personally presented to Coastal’s president Chuck Mazoch by Mr. Couch. In receiving the award, Mr. Mazoch thanked Hypertherm for its “tremendous technological support and for producing such a high quality plasma product for us to be able to provide to our customers.”

Hypertherm designs and manufactures advanced cutting products for use in a variety of industries such as shipbuilding, manufacturing, and automotive repair. Its product line includes handheld and mechanized plasma systems and consumables, as well as fiber laser and waterjet products, in addition to CNC motion and height controls and CAM cutting software. Hypertherm systems are trusted for performance and reliability that result in increased productivity and profitability for hundreds of thousands of businesses. The New Hampshire based company’s reputation for cutting innovation dates back more than 40 years, to 1968, with Hypertherm’s invention of water injection plasma cutting. The associate owned company, consistently named one of the best places to work in America, has more than 1,300 associates along with operations and partner representation worldwide.
